A YEAR OF SNOW

Living in Switzerland it’s impossible not to be embraced by the spirit of winter and spend most of the weekends in the mountains. The cold and snowstorms during this season have been a good opportunity to do some research on the weekdays and get ready to hit the slopes properly equipped. I have built a complete wish-list of all the items I would buy if my budget would have no limit, but also of brands to keep track of for a future investment or for the end-of-season sales that will be starting soon!

A year of snow: How to hit the slopes with style

And these were my top five discoveries over my search for the perfect ski outfit:

MONCLER, AND ITS WINDOW DISPLAYS

Yes, Moncler is clearly on my wishlist for its classic “bomber” jacket but what I really really like about Moncler are its window displays!! Cool, innovative, and completely different in every store. The Verbier one is just amaaazing this year – unfortunately, I didn’t take a picture of it 😦 But head off to any store to appreciate its uniqueness!

PERFECT MOMENT, AND ITS COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN

Smart and effective. Perfect Moment chose social media stars, models, and other influencers to be in the center of the conversation about this winter best ski collections, and it worked. If you search for it online you will find a sort of “real life” pictures from instagramers and influencers in the slopes, and a few more on their partnership with the luxury e-retailer Net-a-Porter. On top of this, their collections are a classic and its insignia star is a statement itself.

FUSALP

While other brands are betting to reinvent themselves and move to more colorful, future inspired collections, Fusalp is only betting on its heritage with a classy navy blue dominant collection.

ROSSIGNOL x GC CASTELBAJAC

This was a nice re-discovery because Rossignol is an ever classic. This year though they launched a partnership with GC Castelbajac which has some really cool items (maybe not to wear all the definitely to make a statement every once in a while). Plus it’s apres-ski collection has a vintage classic look very cool as well and a lot more wearable.

SLIM AARONS DEDICATED “APRÉS SKI COLLECTION”

This is not a clothing selection but a photography collection. You may or may not know about Slim Aarons, but now that we are getting in the mood to close the season with some good acquisitions, his Aprés-ski photography series are worth to explore. Whether not you have a mountain house to decorate, they are beautiful and full of color images worth a corner of your apartment!

“I’ve concentrated on photographing attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places” Slim Aarons
